"I got injured the third day with a hamstring – I struggled from there," Brown said.
Brown is listed behind Demario Minter and punt return specialist Thomas Flowers on the depth chart. Minter leaves after 2005, and the spot will be open for Flowers and Brown to fight over this spring.
"When you don't get reps it's worse than having a bad day," said Brown, who will get his chance to gets lots of reps this August in fall camp. Brown has returned to form this summer at the team's voluntary workouts – the hamstring problem seems to have been remedied.
The key for Brown, like many Bulldog players in his situation, will likely be special teams.
"Kickoff and kickoff return are big for me," he said. Brown hopes that a few big special teams plays could give him momentum to playing more at cornerback. Until then, he says he'll focus on continuing to develop as a defender.
"I'm working on being more patient," he said. "The coaches want me to do that, and get my fundamentals down pat. They tell me that I can run with anybody, but that I need to play with more confidence – but I think that will come with the reps this August," he said.
