Big Offer for Georgia DL

Demarcus Dobbs is one of the best players in South Georgia this recruiting year and he proved it all weekend with a standout performance at the University of Georgia's 2005 senior camp. On Monday afternoon his efforts were rewarded as he became the latest player to pick up a scholarship offer from the Bulldogs.

"Georgia did offer me today. I called Coach Garner and he said he liked me and everything. He asked who I had offers from and then he told me they wanted to be one of them. They like me as a 5 technique and somewhat as a 3 technique," Demarcus Dobbs said.

What stood out most about his time in Athens?

"The best part about it was the campus and the dorms and all the tradition and stuff they had. I really like the academic facilities with the computer rooms, the tutoring rooms and the dorms."

The offer has shaken things up in his top 5.

"Georgia, Georgia Tech, UAB and Ball State have offered me. Right now my favorite schools are Georgia and Georgia Tech. They're pretty even."

What stands out about those programs?

Georgia: "I like their program and I like academic facilities that they have for the football players."

Georgia Tech: "I like their academics. If you get a degree from there your making big bucks and I like their football team."

Is the Savannah product nearing a commitment?

"I'm getting close to making a decision but it's probably going to be towards the end of the summer before I announce anything."

Dobbs appears done with individual camps but is on campus this week at Georgia Tech for a 7 on 7 event with his team.
