Dawgs Looking Good in Alabama

Deantwan "Peanut" Whitehead is one of the best overall players in the state of Alabama this season and on Friday he skipped across the state line into Georgia for a camp trip in Athens. How did it go?

"I enjoyed the whole thing. I liked everything actually but the best part was that they coached it like they were coaching their own players. They didn't make it sound like a honeymoon like most of the other coaches. What you see is what you get. They worked us hard," Deantwan Whitehead said.

Peanut has made a connection with the Bulldog coaches.

"I got to meet to Coach Richt. He wanted to let me know I had an offer when I got there but I told him no because I wanted to earn it all weekend. After it was over I met with him again and he assured me I still had an offer. I love Coach Garner too. I love that man."

Who stands the best chance of signing him right now?

"It was 32 offers and now it's grown to 40. I'm loving Georgia Clemson, Louisville, West Virginia, Cal, Tennessee and Arkansas right now."

Four of those schools have a bit of an advantage at this time.

"I know Arkansas, Louisville, Clemson and Georgia are going to be there at the end. I plan to take visits to those schools. What separates Georgia is just that what you see is what you get. Basically it's the same as Clemson. I feel home there. I like Arkansas and Louisville because with their depth charts at defensive end I think I'll be able to come right in and play."

He'll attend his 3rd camp of the summer this Friday.

"I've camped at Clemson, Georgia and I'm headed to Auburn this weekend. I've visited Tennessee and Cal also."

Peanut and fellow Alabama star Tim Hawthorne are good friends and the two top 5 blue chippers are talking about attending college with one another.

"Me and Tim might try to stick together. That's my boy. We've been talking about it. I know he's looking at Georgia and Louisville with me."
