ATH Loves His Time in Athens

Jamal Harvey is one of the top big athletes in the state of Florida this season and last weekend he attended his first camp of the summer at the University of Georgia. He came away very impressed with what he saw.

"I liked the camp. They work you hard and I like that. I just want to see the gameday atmosphere now. The dorms were the best thing there. They're so big that they were like apartments. They've got hand scanners and you get your own room," Jamal Harvey said.

Harvey spent some one on one time with Coach Richt.

"I got to go upstairs and talk to Coach Richt. They wanted me to talk to my mom about Georgia and how they like me on either side of the ball. At Georgia I'd really like to play defense right now."

The Jacksonville product names a new top 5.

"I like Ole Miss, Florida State, LSU, Louisville, Georgia and Alabama. All of them have offered me. I'd say Georgia and Florida State are two schools that will definitely be there at the end."

What stands out about the Dawgs and the Noles?

Georgia: "I like the coaches. Coach Richt and Coach Smart are great. They just seem really upbeat and down to earth."

Florida State: "That's just FSU. I grew up a Nole fan. It's been kind of a childhood dream to go there and all my family wants me to go there."

What will he be looking for in the school of his choice?

"The tradition of the program is very important. I also like Georgia's academic plan and how they have a plan for you to graduate. I want to see what Florida State's plan is now."

Harvey will get that chance today when he camps in Tallahassee.

"I'm going to the Florida State camp tomorrow (Wednesday). The only one I've been to so far is Georgia."
