"I only have one offer right now," said Lionel Mapp. "Alabama offered me about a month ago. I have been hearing a lot from Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia. I feel like those three schools all may be close to offering me."
Mapp was excited to receive his first offer, especially from a program in the SEC.
"It was great when I received the offer. I like it a lot, but I would still like to see more schools come into the picture. Alabama is a nice school with a very nice atmosphere," said Mapp.
With one offer on the table, the Greene County lineman isn't shy when naming his favorite schools.
"My favorites are Florida and Georgia," said Mapp. "Alabama is my only offer though. I guess I will have to say they are also a favorite. I am going to try and wait as long as I can before I make any decision."
Mapp attended the Kennedy-CES combine in January and measured 6-5, 370 pounds. Mapp performed very well and had excellent speed for a player his size. He knows he needs to shed a few pounds and continue to work on his speed.
"The summer has been going really good," said Mapp. "I had lost weight, but then I added a few pounds. I'm about 6-6, 362 pounds right now. I have been working and improving my footwork all summer. I have also been trying to get faster."
Mapp is seeking additional offers, and he has the opportunity to perform during his senior season to earn them.
