Countdown to Fall Camp: Tight Tackle

Georgia's 2005 season opens soon – the Bulldogs start their camp on August 5 – so here is a look at Georgia's situation at tight guard.

2004 Starter: Daniel Inman (23 career starts)

Inman, perhaps Georgia's most fiery player, will get the nod at tight tackle again in 2005 and probably once more in 2006. A few seasons ago Inman might have been a concern at tackle, but things are different now. The starter at tight guard, Inman will be in the middle of a tackle rotation that will see him moving from one side to the other during games. That's so Ken Shackleford (1 career start), who has earned time over the last few months, can get in some plays.

Inman's progress was showcased against Wisconsin – his performance was impressive. But Inman's potential is not yet filled. Shackleford won't rotate with the other tackles – he'll only work at tight guard. Still, this is one of the deepest spot on the team for 2005. In 2006, Shackleford or Inman will likely slide down the line and start at strong tackle to replace strong tackle Dennis Roland.
