Dawgs get first commitment of 2007

ATHENS - Georgia has gotten its first verbal commitment of the Class of 2007.

The Bulldogs are so far ahead in their recruiting for 2006, they have already started on 2007. On Aug. 4, Georgia got a verbal commitment from Berrien County High School offensive lineman Tanner Strickland.

Strickland, 6-foot-4, 315 pounds, is starting his junior season this month. He plays right tackle for the Rebels but expects to be a guard in Athens.

"They told Coach (Ross) New that if I was injured tomorrow or stayed healthy all the way through high school, I still had a scholarship," Strickland said. "I've always wanted to go there. It's a dream come true, an honor to have that offer."
