Baldwin settles in at safety

ATHENS – Donavan Baldwin spoke with Dean Legge for a short time after one of Georgia's fall practices.

Dean Legge: Can you talk a little about your fall camp?

Donavan Baldwin: I kind of struggled a little bit at the start.

How has it been coming from high school ball to now – the speed?

The speed – I've pretty much caught up with the speed, but I'm still trying to get the learning – that's a whole lot different than high school.

What are they teaching you that is different?

In high school you may have three coverages – that's it. Here, there's a lot of stuff to check and all sorts of things.

What about moving back and forth in the secondary?

I've been moved to safety now.

You learned corner and now you are learning safety, too?

Yeah, I just got moved to safety. It's kind of hard right now, but I am getting used to it.

Has that been difficult for you – do you get mad about it?

No. I don't get mad about it.

I guess you will get on the field quicker at safety?

Yes. We have more depth at corner than at safety.

How are special teams going for you?

Right now, I am only on scout team.

Coach Richt has been talking about scout team, and how that's been important for getting the team ready – what do you say about that?

Our scout team is pushing real hard; really, really hard.
