Presented annually to the nation's best collegiate linebacker, the Butkus Award is named after NFL Hall of Fame member Dick Butkus. The watch list will be trimmed to 10 semi-finalists on Thursday, October 20. That semi-finalist list will be cut down to three finalists, which will be announced on Thursday, November 10. The winner will be announced Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Butkus Award Gala in Orlando, Fla.
Taylor Named to Butkus Award Watch List
Taylor, 6-1, 238 pounds, was projected to be one of Georgia's top contributors in 2004 before an ACL injury suffered prior to the season sidelined him for the year. As a sophomore in 2003, Taylor started 12 of 13 games for Georgia and finished the season as the team's fifth-leading tackler with 82 combined stops. Twice that season, he registered double-digit numbers in tackles, including a career-best 17 stops vs. Middle Tennessee.
