"You have to credit Charlotte for the way they played at the beginning of game one," Legall said. "They will do well in the Atlantic 10. We were a little nervous but I'm proud of us for keeping our composure. Our team knows when you work hard things will bounce your way."
Senior Julia Petruschke led the way for the Bulldogs with 22 kills and 11 digs. Redshirt freshman Chelsea Young notched a career high 36 assists and Brooke Burlingame led in the stats column with 14.
"(Petruschke) is a senior leader right now. We know we can set the ball high and she'll finish it. She carried us tonight. But it wouldn't happen without great team defense. I thought Liz (Pace), Simona (Speed) and Brooke played well in the back court today. It was just an intense defensive effort," said Legall.
Charlotte (0-1) was led by Robin Joseph's 10 kills and Abbey Szlanfucht's 18 digs.
Georgia returns to the court on Sunday, Aug. 28 for a 2 p.m. match with Middle Tennessee at the Ramsey Center.
