Allen Discusses his Commitment

Asher Allen is one of the top DB's in the state of Georgia this year and he was a big priority for coach Mark Richt and his staff. On Saturday all that effort they put into recruiting the CB from Tucker paid off when Asher made his verbal commitment to the Dawgs before their game against Boise State.

"I've been comparing a lot of schools and it just felt right. I really love the family atmosphere there and I know a lot of people. I'm a big fan of the SEC and it's big time ball. They have great coaches and all that," Asher Allen said.

What did Allen think of the Dawgs performance against the Broncos?

"It was a great game. A lot of people came in expecting UGA to run the ball and then Shockley just took over. Everybody played together. They had 4 interceptions and they only had 5 all of last year. My position coach, Coach Martinez did a great job getting them ready."

Asher enjoyed the Dawg Walk, as most players who visit Athens do.

"It was great. I love the fans. That's another huge reason I chose them. They love their Dawgs."

How did Asher inform the Georgia staff of his decision?

"I really made up my mind about a week ago. My parents really like them. The coaches were all really excited. I went up to Coach Richt's office before the game and I just told him I wanted to commit. He was real excited and he was hugging everybody. My parents were real excited."

Why did he decide to go ahead and his recruitment now?

"It just felt right. I compared a lot of schools and I just felt it was time to focus on other things besides that."

The 4-star DB says he's now done with recruiting.

"I won't visit any other schools. I'm 100% committed to Georgia."

Asher has yet to set his official visit but plans to be in attendance at most of Georgia's home games this season. He becomes the 17th player to verbally commit to the Dawgs in the class of 2006.
