Practice Notes: South Carolina Tuesday

ATHENS - The No. 9-ranked Georgia Bulldogs conducted their lone full pads practice of the week on Tuesday, working out for two and a half hours at the Woodruff practice fields in preparation for this Saturday's SEC opener against South Carolina.

"It was a pretty good day," head coach Mark Richt said afterward. "We had decent tempo...nothing to write home about. We don't have a lot of time to get ready this week. We spent so much time preparing to get ready for Boise State. Now, we only have four days to get ready for this Saturday."

Earlier in the day, Richt held his weekly press session where he discussed Saturday's matchup with South Carolina.

"There are key games for everybody early on that set the tone, the tempo and the confidence level for a team," Richt said. "This game has been that one for us in recent history. The winner goes to a New Year's Day bowl, the loser doesn't. When we've won this game, we've finished with 10 wins; when we've lost, we've finished with eight wins. When you win a game like this, it helps you take off."

Kick-off for Saturday's game is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET, and the contest will be televised nationally by ESPN.
