"I was recruited by pretty much everybody else in the SEC," he said. "I guess I wasn't the type of quarterback that fits his offense."
SHOCKER: The biggest personnel surprise from the Bulldogs' opener was the appearance of true freshman tight end Tripp Chandler in the game. He seemed like a certain redshirt because the Bulldogs have two established tight ends in Leonard Pope and Martrez Milner and two younger tight ends in Trahern Holden of Houston County High School and Coleman Watson.
However, Chandler quickly jumped both Holden and Watson on the depth chart and appeared late in Saturday's game.
"He's a very tenacious guy," coach Mark Richt said. "He's not tenacious yet on this level, but he's a tough hard-nosed football player. We think once the cobwebs clear out for him then he'll really be able to help us. We like his route running ability. He's got good hands, so we thought it would be a good idea to (play him)."
