In the first start of his career against Boise State last week, Shockley completed 16-of-24 passes for 289 yards and five touchdowns and also rushed for 85 yards on five carries and one touchdown as the Bulldogs defeated the Broncos 48-13. Shockley's five touchdown passes tied the school record set by former Bulldog David Greene, who threw for five scores last year in Georgia's 45-16 win over LSU. By throwing for five touchdowns and rushing for one, Shockley set the school single-game record for touchdown responsibility.
For Shockley, it is the third award he has won this week after also being named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and the Sporting News College Football Player of the Week.
Shockley and the rest of his teammates return to action this Saturday when they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks at Sanford Stadium. Kickoff for is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET, and the contest will be televised nationally by ESPN.
