South Carolina Week - Thursday News and Notes

ATHENS - News and notes from Georgia's practices.

Along with starting defensive tackle Kedric Golston, backup offensive linemen Michael Turner and Zeb McKinzey will return from suspension Saturday. Golston will start against South Carolina, and Turner and McKinzey both could play, Richt said.

MORE HONORS FOR QB: Quarterback D.J. Shockley was named the Sporting News' college football player of the week on Thursday. He already had been tabbed the SEC's offensive player of the week following his six-touchdown performance against Boise State on Saturday.

TIGHT TIMETABLE: Richt moved his daily meeting with reporters from after Thursday's practice until before so he could try to catch at least part of his son John's football game at Prince Avenue Christian Schools. The Bulldogs worked out for about 90 minutes in their final serious on-field preparation for Saturday's game.

Richt thinks his players have done a good job of staying away from all the hype surrounding Steve Spurrier's return to Sanford Stadium, he said.

"So far, they have been real business-like," he said. "They're not a real rah-rah bunch. They're kind of a quiet bunch really."
