5-Star DE Visits Athens

The Georgia Bulldogs already have one 5-star DE committed for the class of 2006 in the person of Brandon Wood. However, they certainly would love to add one more and this weekend South Carolina prospect Ricky Sapp made the trip across the state line to check out the Dawgs. How did it go?

"I'd give it a 9. I like the fans and the atmosphere. It was pretty good," Ricky Sapp said.

What was his favorite part of the trip?

"I thought the Dawg Walk was pretty amazing. The fans and just walking through them and feeling the hype was a lot of fun. It kind of made me want to get out there and play."

Sapp spent some time with the Bulldog coaches.

"I talked to Coach Richt and Coach Fabris. They just talked to me about the game and how my season was going. A lot of stuff like that."

Ricky didn't get a chance to tour many of the facilities in Athens but Sanford Stadium drew high marks.

"I really liked the facilities they had, mainly just the football field. The crowd was amazing and I love red and black man."

Who did he talk with while in the Classic City?

"I talked to Tim Jennings. I told him good game and we just talked about the game and stuff like that. Just a lot of stuff in general."

What's the status of Ricky's commitment to Tommy Bowden's Clemson Tigers?

"I'm still committed to Clemson right now. I'm just not sure how strong at this point."

Will Sapp take any official visits this fall other than his trip to Death Valley?

"I haven't set any officials yet. If I decide to, I will probably visit Florida State, South Carolina, Georgia and Clemson. I'm going to the Clemson/Miami game this weekend."

The Palmetto State product is off to a spectacular start to his senior season.

"It's going real good so far. I have 6 sacks and 2 touchdowns. I also probably have around 30 tackles overall."
