Athens Impresses New Jersey RB

Running back is a point of pride for the current edition of the Georgia football team. However, after not signing a ball carrier in last years recruiting class, it's all of a sudden become a big position of need for the Dawgs in the class of 2006. One of the players at the top of their wish list to fill that void is Knowshon Moreno and the New Jersey back took his official visit to Athens this weekend.

"It was fun. It was a good time. The game was the best part. Getting to be around the people and all of that. The atmosphere was great," Knowshon Moreno said.

Moreno was hosted by injured fullback Des Williams.

"My host was Des Williams. We just hung out and went to eat a couple of times. I hung out with a few other guys also. We were just chilling."

The 4-star RB also spent some time with the Georgia head coach.

"I got to talk to Coach Richt. He just let me know he wanted me at Georgia and we had breakfast together on Sunday before I left."

As is the case with the almost all recruits who visits Athens, Knowshon had high grades for the dorms and the pre-grame tradition known as the Dawg Walk.

"The Dawg Walk was fun, but I bet it's even better when you're in uniform. The dorms are sweet too. It's just like you're in an apartment."

The New Jersey back hung out fellow visitor Micah Johnson most of the weekend.

"I hung out with a guy named Micah Johnson. We just hung out together and I got to know him. He's a cool kid."

What did he think of his first look at Athens on a game day?

"I've seen Athens before but it's still a great atmosphere and all that. The fans are crazy. They love their football and that's exactly what I'm looking for."

Is he getting any closer to naming a set of favorites?

"It's still the same thing really. I'm just taking my time right now but it was a fun time down there. There's still a bunch of other schools in there."

Knowshon has yet to set any more of his visits, but with trips to Oklahoma and now Georgia already in the books, he'll have just three officials remaining. Where will he decide to visit and who will land the #1 RB in the East Region come February? Stay tuned to to find out…
