ATHENS - The sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs continued preparations for their upcoming game with Louisiana-Monroe by holding a 90-minute workout Wednesday.
coach Mark Richt
told his squad they needed to improve in certain areas including "Red Zone" defense, longer rushes by the running backs and said on Thursday he'll mention scoring more points off turnovers. The Bulldogs rank at the bottom of the SEC in stopping opponents once they get inside the 20 yard line. Opponents are 4-for-4 in scoring including three touchdowns. The longest rush by a Bulldog running back this year is 18 yards (twice by Thomas Brown). The Bulldogs have only 27 points off eight turnovers but do have an SEC-leading +5 turnover margin.
Richt added he is extremely pleased with Georgia's punting and kicking game.
"Brandon (Coutu) and Gordon (Ely-Kelso) have been great," said Richt. "We've looked good on field goals, extra punts and punting. Gordon is punting them high and deep and that's what we want."
Kickoff Saturday at Sanford Stadium versus the Indians will be at 1 p.m.
