Practice Notes: Mississippi State Monday

ATHENS — The Georgia football team will play its first road game of the season this week, and the Bulldogs turned their attention to that contest at Monday's practice.

Georgia's players worked out for approximately 90 minutes on Monday at the Woodruff Practice Fields, going through agility drills and offensive and defensive drills.

"It was a good practice for us," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "It was hot again — probably the hottest practice of the year —but the guys really pushed through it in an effort to get better. I liked our focus and the way we went about our business."

Georgia will visit Mississippi State on Saturday in Starkville. Georgia is off to a 3-0 start, including 1-0 in the SEC, while Mississippi State is 2-1 and 0-1.

Richt announced the captains for Saturday's game will be Ryan Schnetzer on offense, Greg Blue and Kedric Golston on defense, and Brian Jordan on special teams.

The Bulldogs went through agility drills to start practice, but one group was excused. The Bulldogs are broken into "academic teams" and the winning group on Monday was made up of Gordon Ely-Kelso, Demiko Goodman, Chase Green, Max Jean-Gilles, Joseph O'Keefe, Ian Smith, Tony Taylor, Jeff Ward, Marcus Washington and Ben Wilson.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is slated for 9 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.
