UGA Commit Takes a Trip

Palmetto State product Ronnie Tyler made his verbal commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs back in the month of June and many assumed his recruitment would be complete at that time. Since then however, Ronnie has been watching some other schools very closely and he made the short trek over to Columbia on Saturday to watch Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks take on the Wildcats of Kentucky.

"I went to South Carolina yesterday. I just wanted to make sure that I'm doing the right thing. It was a good game. South Carolina played great," Ronnie Tyler said.

Tyler spent some time with the Gamecock coaches.

"I spoke to the coaches and they let me know the offer was still on the table and that if I decided not to take it there would be no hard feelings."

Did Georgia know of his trip to see SC?

"They didn't know I was going over there but Coach Fabris knew that I was going to weigh my options and look at some more schools. I'm still looking at South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. I want to take officials to those schools as well as Florida."

What does this say for the status of his commitment to the Dawgs at this time?

"My commitment is still as strong as it was when I first committed but I'm just looking over my options."

What might it take for one of those schools to change his thinking?

"It's going to take a whole, whole lot for them to change my mind. I just like everything about Georgia. Academic and athletic wise it's very good. They have a great coaching staff."

Tyler will be in Athens when the Dawgs take on Auburn later this year. Can they hang on to his verbal or can someone else change his mind? Stay tuned to to find out….
