Vanderbilt Week: Monday Practice Report

ATHENS - The Georgia football team began preparations for its third straight road game on Monday by holding a 90-minute practice session in cooler, overcast conditions.

The Bulldogs are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the SEC after last week's win at Tennessee. On Saturday, they will visit Vanderbilt, which is 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

"It was a good practice for us," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "The win at Tennessee was great and I'm proud of our players, but we've still got a long way to go. The only thing on our mind this week is the Vanderbilt game. We've worked hard to get to this point and it's important that we keep working hard."

Richt announced the captains for Saturday¹s game will be guard Max Jean-Gilles on offense, cornerback DeMario Minter and tackle Kedric Golston on defense, and punter Gordon Ely-Kelso on special teams.

The Bulldogs went through agility drills to start practice, but one group was excused. The Bulldogs are broken into "academic teams" and the winning group on Monday was made up of Daniel Inman, Thomas Brown, Tyson Browning, Brannan Southerland, Antavious Coates, Michael Daniels, Justin Lyles, Orie Mitchell, Joe Tereshinski, Thomas Flowers and Des Williams.

Kickoff for Saturday¹s game is slated for 7:15 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.
