Barnes: You always have to prepare to play

ATHENS – Blake Barnes spoke with Dean Legge for a short time after one of Georgia's fall practices.

Dean Legge: It's been a complicated week with everything that's gone on.

Blake Barnes: Things have shifted a little without D.J. in there. We've all moved up one spot. Joe Cox is up from the scout team.

How about being one play away from it now?

It gives you extra incentive to prepare that much more. You always have to prepare each week like you are going to be the starter, so you are ready if any situation comes up – now that's a more real situation.

What about the quarterback meetings – what are they like now?

Not much different. We are all there watching film and asking questions.

Who takes over the role of the scout team quarterback at this point?

Nick Dalton – a new guy that's come up this season.

How does it seem like Joe Tereshinski has been this week?

He's done well. He's really come along since I have been here. He's improving all along.

Did it seem that the coaches were pulling in the offense a little bit?

Yes, I think so. You spend more time with your number one guy during the week of practice--going over all the reads and the things he needs to be looking out for. You focus on your number one guy than anything else. I think they wanted to back off a little bit because he had not gotten the reps and the same experience Shock had earlier in the week.

Does it seem like they are backing off now?

No. They are preparing just like they would with Shock.

What's the key to beating Florida?

Making plays. We've got to go out there and make plays.

Will you have the headphones on?

I don't know. I would imagine I would since that is the role I have had all year, but I am not exactly sure. I was thinking about that earlier – I don't know what we'll do about that.
