Off-Week: Thursday Practice Report

ATHENS - Taking advantage of his team's off-week this Saturday, University of Georgia football coach Mark Richt surprised his team by taking them to the UGA Equestrian Complex to learn about the sport of equestrian and to ride some of the equestrian team's horses on Thursday afternoon.

Following the visit, which took about an hour and a half, Richt was pleased to give his players a break and have them learn about one of UGA's more unique sports.

"College is about educational experiences. Thursday was an opportunity for our team to learn more about the sport of equestrian and horses," Richt said. "Our equestrian coaches and members of our equestrian team provided a lot of information about the sport and gave the players an opportunity to saddle and ride some of the horses. Most of the players were eager for the opportunity and all seemed to have a lot of fun. We even had a little riding competition between the offense and defense."

Kickoff on Nov. 12 versus Auburn will be at 7:45 p.m. ET and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
