Ely-Kelso Semifinalist for Ray Guy Award

ATHENS - Georgia punter Gordon Ely-Kelso has been named a national semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, according to an announcement made Thursday by the Greater Augusta Sports Council.

Ely-Kelso is among 10 semifinalists for the award that is presented annually to the nation¹s top collegiate punter.

The junior from Athens, Ga., has average 43.2 yards a punt in 2005. He has pinned Georgia¹s opponents inside their own 20-yard line in half of his 32 attempts this season. His best performance of the season came in Georgia¹s 27-14 win over then-No. 8 Tennessee, where he averaged 42.5 yards a punt on six attempts. Three of his six attempts were downed inside Tennessee¹s 20-yard line.

The winner of the Ray Guy Award will be announced live on ESPN during the Home Depot College Football Awards show on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The Bulldogs are idle this week and will return to action Saturday, Nov. 11, against Auburn at Sanford Stadium. The game will kick off at 7:45 p.m. and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
