UGA Commit Coming to Auburn Game

Matthew Stafford is perhaps the most coveted player in the Georgia Bulldogs '06 signing class, and the 5-star quarterback will be present in the city of Athens for their biggest game of the year to this point on Saturday night. What is the Texas star looking most forward to about the trip and which fellow recruits is he excited to meet?

"I will be in Athens this weekend. This is my official visit," Matthew Stafford said.

This will be Matthew's first game in Athens since an SEC contest against Vanderbilt in 2004.

"I'm just ready to see everyone again. I'm ready to see all the coaches and the players again. I also just want to hang out and see what game day is like a little closer to the field this time."

Stafford is looking forward to meeting a few of the other big time prospects in the classic City this weekend.

"Yeah I think Ausberry is going to be there and some other big recruits are coming in. I just want to meet some of those guys. I'm not gonna beat Georgia down their throats but I want to see what they think about it and then I'm going to tell them what I know about Georgia."

A hot topic in the Bulldog Nation has been whether or not Matthew would participate in the prestigious Army All-American Bowl come early January. What is the Texas star's plan at this time?

"They told me I was selected for the game but I'm not going to be able to play. I have to be in Athens on January 4th for orientation and that's what I plan to do. Just being with the team in the spring is going to be exciting. I'm excited about learning the offense."

Stafford feels he's grown even more as a quarterback this fall.

"I think I'm making better decisions this year. I'm not forcing things like I used to do. I'm letting guys get the ball and then make plays with their legs. I think I've improved in that area. Right now I have about 2450yds and 25 touchdowns with 3 picks. I'm like 64% on completion."

Matthew's undefeated Highland Park squad will square against once beaten Texas HS this Friday in a match up that also features super junior quarterback, Ryan Mallett. Stafford is excited about the challenge.

"It's going to be a big game this weekend. This is a big game for us. They knocked us out of the playoffs last year when they beat us by three. They have a lot of speed and are a well coached team. It's gonna be an exciting game."
