David Ausberry: Official Visit Preview

Georgia's 2006 recruiting class is nearing completion but if there's one position they'd like to add another big body at, it's wide receiver. This weekend they'll get the opportunity to convince one of the best wideouts in the country to play for the Dawgs when California's David Ausberry lands in Athens.

"I'm leaving out here at about 5:00am. I'm not sure when I'll get to Athens. I just want to have a good time and see another part of the country. Meet all the coaches and players and stuff," David Ausberry said.

Ausberry is looking forward to his first taste of big time SEC football

"I expect to have a lot of fun in a great atmosphere and meet a lot of players. I think the SEC is the most passionate conference around."

David plans to meet up with some relatives of his while in the Peach State.

"I have family in Georgia and I hope to see them this weekend. I've called them the past couple of nights but I've just been narrowly missing them. I hope to talk with them soon."

In an interview earlier this week, Bulldog QB commit Matthew Stafford mentioned Ausberry by name when asked which recruits he planned to talk with this weekend. How does David feel about meeting the newest Georgia signal caller?

"Most definitely that will be really cool. I'm looking forward to meeting another guy who's just trying to make it like I am and that will be really great. I've heard he's a great player."

The Lemoore standout still has four schools in contention for his signature.

"I like Georgia, Ohio State, USC and Nebraska. I've been to Ohio State and Nebraska already and I plan to go to USC as well."

He talks about why he favors each of those programs.

Georgia: "Just the atmosphere. Players play real hard. The way they work the players. They just attract a lot of attention."

Ohio State: "I was born out there. I can come back home and see them. I like the players there a lot. It was great being around them."

USC: "It's home, it's California. I've met a lot of the players before and seeing the LA Coliseum is great. It's so big."

Nebraska: "They have some of the best fans out there. They were chanting my name when I walked out. The entire student section was yelling at me."
