LSU Week: Tuesday Practice Report

ATHENS - The No. 13-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (9-2, 6-2 SEC) conducted their most physical practice of the week on Tuesday -- a two-and-a-half hour session in full pads -- in preparation for this Saturday's date with No. 3-ranked LSU (10-1, 7-1) in the SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Following practice, head coach Mark Richt announced that the captains for this week's contest will be a quartet of seniors -- cornerback and special teams standout Mike Gilliam, defensive tackle Kedric Golston, cornerback Tim Jennings and quarterback D.J. Shockley.

Earlier on Tuesday, Richt took part in the Bulldogs' game-week press conference where he discussed both playing in the SEC Championship game for the third time in four years and facing LSU.

"It's not domination by any means," Richt said. "We're just fighting like mad to get in it. We've been fortunate to be there three years. It's a lot more fun to be in it than not, and it's a lot more fun to win it than lose it. We've had a chance to win, lose and sit it out, and it's obvious that winning is the most fun."

"LSU has been there three out of four times like us, and the last time we were there, they were there to beat us soundly," Richt added. "They still have the same type of players they had back then, great-looking athletes who are very well coached. They know how to win. They have been winning a lot over the last few years. Nothing has really changed with the coaching change."

Saturday's will be televised nationally by CBS with kick-off slated for shortly after 6:00 p.m. ET.
