Colorado OL/DT Down to Final 5

The state of Colorado is generally known for its scenic mountain ranges, but this year it's also being recognized as the home of human man-mountain, Butch Lewis. At 6'5 280lbs he's as close to a mini-mountain as you'll find on the high school level. The big man from Aurora has narrowed his list to 5 schools that span from the coast of Florida all the way to the beaches of Southern California and he talks about each one right here with Scout.com.

"It's down to USC, Notre Dame, Georgia, Miami and LSU. They're all pretty equal at this point," Butch Lewis said.

What stands out about each of his nationally known favorites?

USC: "Coach Carroll has a great coaching staff and he's such a good coach. They're winning but they're also having fun at the same time. That's a big plus.".

Notre Dame: "I like the education they offer as well as the tradition. Coaches are very real."

Georgia: "I love the coaches, the facilities, the people and the hospitality. I also have roots in Georgia."

Miami: "That was my childhood favorite growing up."

LSU: "It's very similar to Georgia. They have that southern hospitality."

Lewis took his fourth official visit of the recruiting process this weekend when he travelled west to see the USC Trojans dismantle UCLA.

"The campus is a beautful place. The atmosphere was crazy. They were chanting back and forth and had shirts made and all that. It's was just great being there."

How would he compare it to the three previous trips he's been on?

"All my visits have been great so it kind of fits in with them. There's good things about all of them."

As you can imagine, the Lewis household should be full of college coaches over the next couple of months and the in-home visits have already kicked off for the Colorado standout.

"I've had in-home visits with Notre Dame and Nebraska so far. Georgia, Miami and LSU are all supposed to be coming this week."

The Canes will receive his fifth and final official visit this coming weekend and after that's complete, Lewis says he may be close to making his commitment.

"I've got my Miami visit next weekend and that will be my last one. After that is over I'll probably be close to a decision. I'll likely announce some time around Christmas or just after that."

Butch ended his senior season with 65 tackles and 7 sacks defensively. Stay tuned to Scout.com for the latest on this heavily recruited 4-star prospect.
