Byrd knows bowl practices big for 06 season

ATHENS – C.J. Byrd spoke with Dean Legge for a short time after one of Georgia's fall practices.

Dean Legge: Coming into your freshman season, did you expect all of this – the SEC title and everything?

C.J. Byrd: I knew there was a possibility. I didn't really – I guess you could say yes, but I thought that we were going to be a really good team this year. I was confident, but I wasn't overconfident about the national title or the SEC Championship.

What do you think bowl practice will mean for guys like you that have played this year, and could start next season?

I think it will be competitive. A lot of guys know that starting spots for next year are open, and that everyone has a chance. I expect it to be very competitive.

You've got finals and then you come right back into it.

I think we get a little bit of a break to rest after everything to lick our wounds and recover from our sores. After that I guess we will just go out there and play.
