Dawgs slide to #3 in Scout rankings

ATHENS – Georgia lost out on two top recruits Monday which allowed Florida to jump the Bulldogs on Scout's Team Recruiting Rankings.

Georgia was ranked second coming into this week and could have padded thier lead. But Florida's addition of Riley Cooper on Saturday, and Damon McDaniel and Percy Harvin (both from Virginia Beach) today coupled with the decision of Jared Odrick and Carlos Brown to go elsewhere vaulted the Gators to 2,358 points, and over Georgia.

Georgia got a commitment late last week from Douglass High School's Akeem Dent. At that time the Bulldogs were ranked behind Texas, who still leads the nation with 2,554 total points; Georgia had 2,227 total points before Dent's commitment. After his commitment the Bulldogs gained 108 points to move to 2,335 points. However, the Gators' new commitments gave them a 23-point advantage over Georgia. Despite adding two commitments last week, Notre Dame fell to fourth with 2,103 points.

Cameron Smith, Charles Deas and Chavez Grant – all four-star players according to Scout – are still highly interested in the Bulldogs. A commitment from any of the three would move the Bulldogs back over Florida.
