Kendall's Take: Dawgs take on WCU

ATHENS - Josh Kendall gives his take on Georgia's basketball game with Western Carolina.

Georgia vs. Western Carolina
Time/place: Today, 4 p.m., Stegeman Coliseum, Athens,Ga.
Broadcast: CSS television
Records: Georgia is 8-3, Western Carolina is 7-7

About Western Carolina: The Catamounts are coming off a seven-point home loss to Gardner-Webb. … Western is led by sophomore guard Antonio Russell, who gets 15.5 points per game. Senior center David Berghoefer averages 10.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

About Georgia: The Bulldogs are coming off their most impressive win of the season, a 72-69 victory over previously unbeaten Clemson. … Sophomore forward Younes Idrissi's role on the team seems to be expanding. He scored 16 points against Nevada two games ago and then played 25 minutes against Clemson. … Freshman Mike Mercer also may be coming into his own. He had 11 points against Nevada and 22 points against the Tigers.

Scouting report: It will be another mark of Georgia's progress when the Bulldogs can start taking games like this for granted. They're almost there now. The Catamounts don't have the talent Georgia has at any spot on the floor except for perhaps center. The Bulldogs' guard play will overwhelm Western.

Up next: Georgia vs. Howard, Monday, 2 p.m.; Western Carolina at Ole Miss, Tuesday, 7 p.m.
