"I didn't really like how they looked (Thursday) myself," he said. "I thought at times they gave really good effort, but they didn't give good effort as long as I'm used to seeing. I don't know if they were tired or just got out of condition during the break or what."
He must have decided it was a conditioning issue because he made most of the team take three 3/4-mile laps around the field as fast as they could before Friday's practice.
"That's just more evidence that if one team is more ready to play than the other, it could be over by the second quarter," Richt said.
The Bulldogs are a seven-point favorite against West Virginia.
THIS AND THAT: Danny Ware is practicing with a heavily taped left ankle but appears to be running fine. … Receiver Kris Durham, who practiced with the team in Athens last week, showed up to watch Friday's practice. … Defensive lineman Brandon Wood, who is expected to sign in February, also attended the workout.
