Dawgs take on Howard: Kendall's Take

ATHENS - Josh Kendall breaks down Georgia's matchup with Howard.

Georgia vs. Howard

Time/place: Today, 2 p.m., Stegeman Coliseum, Athens, Ga.

Broadcast: No television

Records: Georgia is 9-3, Howard is 2-7

About Howard: The Bison's only two wins came against Mercer and Maryland-Eastern Shore. … Howard is led by junior forward Darryl Hudson, who has a team-high 12.8 points and 5.6 rebounds. … The Bison are getting hurt in the rebounding game this year. They are minus-8.4 in rebounding margin, which makes it very tough to win.

About Georgia: Georgia already has eclipsed last year's win total. … The Bulldogs got another guard going Saturday against Western Carolina as Channing Toney had a team-high 18. … This will be Georgia's final game before the start of SEC action.

Scouting report: Georgia head coach Dennis Felton and assistant coach Mike Jones both got degrees from Howard, but they probably won't take it easy on the Bison today. The duo played together on the 1986 Howard team, and Felton then quit the team. Jones lettered four years at the school. The Bulldog coaches probably will feel even more sentimental about their alma mater if they can get their 10th win against them. Both teams have lost to Oregon State this year, Georgia by four points and the Bison by 36.

Up next: Georgia vs. Florida, Saturday, 12 p.m., Jefferson-Pilot; Howard vs. South Carolina State, Thursday, 8 p.m.
