Ex-Dawg Harper's Funeral To Be Held Saturday

ATHENS, Ga. — Funeral services for former Georgia football player Jimmy Harper will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Eastman.

Harper died last Saturday. He was 44.

Harper was an offensive lineman for the Bulldogs from 1980-83, helping pave the way for Herschel Walker's run to the Heisman Trophy in 1982. During Harper's career, the Bulldogs went 43-4-1, including the 1980 national championship and four Southeastern Conference titles.

The Eastman native, whose nickname was "Mountain," garnered All-SEC recognition in 1981 and 1982.

Rollins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
