Kendall's Take: Dawgs look for first SEC win

COLUMBIA - Josh Kendall breaks down Georgia's game with South Carolina.

Time/place: Today, 3 p.m., Colonial Center, Columbia, S.C.
Broadcast: Jefferson-Pilot television Records: Georgia is 10-5, 0-2 SEC; South Carolina is 9-6, 0-2

About South Carolina: Football coach Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks football team will be recognized at halftime of the game. … Senior guard Tarence Kinsey leads the Gamecocks with 15.9 points per game. … The Gamecocks are 10th in the SEC in scoring at 69.9 points per game.

About Georgia: Freshman guard Billy Humphrey has struggled since injuring his leg five days prior to the start of the SEC season. He has recovered almost fully from the injury but scored just five points against Florida and four points against Tennessee. … There may be some changes in the starting lineup tonight. Steve Newman and Dave Bliss saw their roles dramatically reduced in the last game.

Scouting report: South Carolina is a great opponent for Georgia, and not just because they aren't very good. The Gamecocks play a methodical style, and the young Bulldogs have proven they can't keep their composure when an opponent starts forcing the tempo. If Georgia plays aggressive defense on the perimeter and Billy Humphrey gets his game going again, this will be the Bulldogs' first conference victory.

Up next: Georgia vs. Kentucky, Tuesday, 9 p.m.; SouthCarolina at Vanderbilt, Wednesday, 8 p.m.
