Davis talks about his visit and recruiting

ATHENS – Chris Davis spoke with Dean Legge for a short time after his official visit to Georgia.

Dean Legge: Tell me a little bit about your visit…

Chris Davis: I had a great time. It was fun. All of the players treated you with respect. Joe Cox was my host and he was cool. I met a lot of the other recruits like Brent Brewer. He was real fun to hang out with.

Did he seem interested in Georgia?

I think Brandon Wood and I talked him into Georgia. He had a great time down there – I really hope we get him.

When you watch the team practice does it hit you that the guys in college are a lot faster, bigger and hit harder than in high school?

Oh definitely it does. That comes with getting into the weight room. They are big right now, but I want to be big, too. It's all about the weight room and working out hard.

Have you been up to Georgia for a summer workout that they have had – the team?

No I haven't.

Will you try to get there in the summer?

Yes; in June.

Why did you commit early to go to Georgia?

In my case I loved Georgia and wanted to go nowhere else but there. That's in my case. I think it's better to commit early. You've got people like Danny Carmichael, his offer was dropped from North Carolina because he waited so long that they filled up. To me there is a risk in waiting so long.

Have Georgia coaches been in contact with him lately?

I don't know. I've called the coaches and talked with them about him. He showed me a lot during the All-Star game we played in.

He wants to go to Georgia?

Oh, yes.
