Q&A With Akeem the Killer Hebron

Akeem Hebron is one of the biggest players to verbally commit to the Dawgs in what is already a top 5 recruiting class on Scout.com. The #1 ranked player in the state of Maryland can't wait to sign with Georgia on Wednesday, but his initial decision to head south wasn't met with complete approval.

"My parents really didn't want me to go too far from home. They didn't like the thought of me being all the way down there but now they like Georgia because of the coaches. I also have some family in Georgia that I can go see," Akeem Hebron said.

When is the last time you talked to Georgia?

"Coach Richt, Coach Jancek, Coach Johnson and Coach Martinez all came for an in-home visit on Thursday. They say they are so happy to have me. I have to put on some weight when I get there but they're not worried about that right now. They want me at the weak side."

Georgia's LB class is ranked #1 on Scout.com partly due to the addition of yourself and fellow 5-star Darius Dewberry who will slot in at strong side backer for the Dawgs. What do you think about coming in with a player like Darius?

"I think it's great that me and Darius are both coming in. Me and him already have a great relationship. We talk on the phone. I met him on my visit down there and we've been friends ever since. Once we get on the field I think it's going to be really great. He said he can't to wait to get out of Hargrave and I know we both can't wait to get to Georgia."

How do you see yourself fitting in on the depth chart?

"I don't really know yet. I have to come in and adjust first. If I can do that then I can see myself getting some playing time."

Georgia is already after some other players in the Maryland and Washington D.C. area for 2007. Do you plan to help Georgia recruit them?

"Oh yeah! I'm going to host them if they come down for an official. I want them to be with me because I'm from the same area they're from. I know how it is. I already talk to Marvin Austin sometimes and Arrelious Benn sometimes too."

What are you looking forward to most about getting to Athens?

"I just want to get down there and have some fun. Hopefully I can adjust fast. I know there's going to be some hard work needed."

Have you thought about adjusting to the heat and humidity in Athens from what you're used to?

"I don't really like the cold. The heat is going to hurt but I'd rather be in the heat than the cold. It hasn't snowed that much up here this year which is good."

What do you bring to the field?

"I just get to the ball in a hurry. My reaction time is great."

What was your favorite hit of the season?

"The St. John's game when I took this dude's helmet off. It was like a screen on the other side of the field. As soon as he threw it over there I sprinted across the field. He wasn't going vertical yet and I just came out of nowhere and put my helmet under his facemask. Knocked it straight off. I couldn't help but get excited about that."

When you think about signing your letter of intent on Wednesday, what are you looking forward to most about it?

"I'm looking forward just to know that once I've signed it's all over. I don't have to worry about other coaches calling and all of that."
