Update 2003 - Jimmy Barthmaier (WR)

Borderwars 101 Team member Jimmy Barthmaier of Roswell, GA has made it through a hectic May including reaching the semi-finals in the State Baseball tournament. While school is out and the May evaluation period is over, Barthmaier has found that his summer sport is keeping him just as busy. "We played a double header again today," said Barthmaier. "We played 2 yesterday as well. We keep pretty busy with baseball in the summer."

With a 93+ mph fastball, Barthmaier is another 2 sport star that will face some choices about which sport, or both, to play at the next level. "I've had a lot of schools tell me that they want me to just come up to campus and talk things over with them, so they can see what my plans are. Right now, I don't know what my plans are. It would depend on where I would go in the Major League Draft next year. I'd still like to play both sports though. Most teams know I don't have time to go to camps because of summer baseball. They just want me to come up and talk things over."

Barthmaier is hearing from most of the schools across the region, and he names several of them among his early favorites. "I've been really impressed with North Carolina. I guess my top 5 would also include South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia. I'm keeping an open mind about the whole process though."
