McKinzey talks Spring Ball

ATHENS – Zeb McKinzey spoke with Dean Legge for a short time about Georgia's upcoming spring practices.

Dean Legge: Tell me about getting ready for spring football…

Zeb McKinzey: You are trying to get your fundamentals back. Some of the practices late in the Sugar Bowl, we didn't scrimmage with the seniors, and I think that was a preview of what's to come.

What about for you?

It looks like I will be battling for a guard spot in the spring. It's time for us to get our fundamentals down, and make sure we know what's going on.

Will you look at center this spring?

I don't think so. I think Coach Callaway is going to stick with Nick Jones and Ian Smith.

What did you learn the most from the offensive linemen that left after the Sugar Bowl?

Hard work and dedication. I learned that if you stick with it, things will pay off. Some of the guys, like Shockley as an example, had to wait four years for their turn, and I think he made the most of it.
