Profile 2003 - Cliff Dunham Jr. (QB)
The BorderWars 101 Team is due to be updated on June 15th, and Cliff Dunham Jr. is a shoe-in to make the new team. Dunham, from Columbus, GA, has offers from virtually all of the heavy hitters in the south including, Florida State, Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.
"He's the best I've ever coached," said Pacelli Head Coach Kevin Pettis. "I had Gary McNeely who went on to play at Alabama, and Cliff is better. His dad, Cliff Dunham Sr., was the first African American football player in the Big 8. He couldn't get recruited down here, so he went and played at Colorado."
Because of people like his father, Cliff Dunham Jr. won't have to face the same obstacles when it comes to being recruited. Every school in the south is recruiting Dunham, and for good reason. Dunham is 6-3 and 270 pounds and runs a 4.8 forty. "I'm going to a lot of camps this summer," said Dunham. "I have camps scheduled for Maryland, Florida State, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Ole Miss."
Which lucky team leads for Dunham's signature in February? Well, there's 2 actually. "I really like Maryland. I talked with their defensive line coach, and he told me his philosophy on defense. He gave me some good info on how he likes to play the game. My dad is a big FSU fan. I was a big fan growing up too. They've given me a scholarship offer, and I'd like to play there. Maryland and FSU are my top 2. Florida said they wouldn't give up without a fight," said Dunham with a laugh. "So I'd put them third. Then Boston College and Auburn would round out my top 5."
