Class of 2006: Kevin Perez

Dean Legge reviews each of Georgia's 27 commitments in the class of 2006.

Kevin Perez
Offensive Lineman
(Miami Killian) Miami, FL
6-3/273/NA
Rank: NR Rating: ***

HONORS: Named Class AAAAAA first-team All-State by the Florida Football Writers Association…first-team All-Dade County …U.S. Army Preseason All-American watch list… Scout.com Hot South 100 team…team captain as a senior…also played both ways as a senior, getting snaps at defensive tackle as well as offensive guard…

FINAL WORD: Perez has helped his chances to play this fall significantly by enrolling early at Georgia. He will get a chance to play center as well as guard. Perez should look at this spring as the first part of a steep learning curve that is playing offensive line in college. He's no longer much bigger than his opponent, and it will take time for him to get used to the speed of the game. But being able to participate in all of spring practice as well as summer conditioning should have him ready to compete for a backup spot this fall.

KEVIN PEREZ ON LEAVING MIAMI: "All my life I have been a Miami fan. I've always got a little bit of The U in me. When I first started getting recruited they were talking with me a lot. Had they offered me at the start, I think I would have gone there. But Miami likes to go out of town first to get their recruits and then come back home. I didn't want to be their second or third choice. I chose Georgia because they wanted me right away."
