What we learned:
Billy Bennett is a great field goal kicker. By the time that he leaves Georgia, he might be considered the best kicker in Georgia history. It is hard to argue with Bennett's abilities when he outscored Georgia Tech in 2001, the greatest performance by a Georgia kicker ever. With all of that said, Bennett leaves the ball a little low sometimes.
Unlike 2000, Bennett had 3 blocked kicks. The blocks accounted for 33% of his misses on the season. One of the blocks came in the crucial game against South Carolina. Still, Bennett is a proven kicker that is one of the best in the SEC. He was on the Lou Groza watch list in 2001 and is sure to remain on it in 2002. Bennett has deadly accuracy from 40 yards out. Last season he went 7 for 10 from more than 40 yards out. His career long was made in 2001 against Arkansas. Bennett nailed a 55-yard kick that tied Georgia with the Hogs temporarily.
Bennett is one half of the best kicking combination in the SEC, and perhaps the county. Along with Jonathon Kilgo, Georgia can and does use the kicking game as a weapon.
