Dawgs Lead Early for In-State Star

When you talk about big time skill players in the Peach State, one name that immediately has to come to mind is Charlton County's D.J. Donley. This rangy WR/S prospect already holds 6 offers from some of the top programs in the country and he should have his pick of schools by the time signing day rolls around.

"I have offers from Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida State, Purdue, Tennessee and Florida so far," D.J. Donley said.

The in-state Dawgs are out to an early advantage.

"Georgia is number one. Florida, Purdue, Tennessee and Notre Dame are also in there."

Why is UGA out front?

"I went to a couple of games up there and I just love the atmosphere. I love the fans and the Dawg Walk. Also Folkston is a big Bulldog town."

Donley speaks a little about the other programs in his top 5.

Florida: "I went to a couple games there also and the Swamp is very loud."

Purdue: "My teammate David Pender is going up there and he told me that it's a nice place."

Tennessee: "Coach McWhorter (Charlton County head coach) told me that's a good school to look at."

Notre Dame: "Coach Mac is from that area and like Tennessee, he told me it's a good school to look at."

D.J. is looking for a few things in the school of his choice.

"Education comes first, then athletic and academic reputation. I'll go anywhere so location isn't really a big deal to me."

The south Georgian could play either wide receiver or a physical safety on the next level and at this time he's open to playing either side of the football.

"I would rather play offense but if I can gain weight I wouldn't mind playing safety at all."

Donley's only plan for camps this summer will take him to Georgia but more could be added in the future. Stay tuned to Scout.com for the latest on this big time player…
