Learning from last season: Ken Veal

Ken Veal will be one of four defensive linemen starting for Georgia in 2002. If he can somehow get pressure on the quarterback, the defense will be oustanding.

What we learned:

Ken Veal is one of two "new" Dawgs to the starting defensive line. He did, however, start three games last season when movement along the defensive line was made necessary by injuries.

Veal came on strong when named a starter. His best game came against arch-rival Georgia Tech. In that game Veal had five tackles. Against Boston College in the Music City Bowl, Veal also had a strong game. He matched his total against Georgia Tech with five tackles. It would be nice to see Veal get more pressure on the quarterback, but everyone would like to see interior linemen do that. If that were to happen, because Veal is not likely to be double teamed with Johnathan Sullivan alongside him, the defense will be in great shape.
