Kade Weston: Spring has been going well. I've been getting a lot of reps trying to get the defense down pat.
Do you think this off-season really helped move you up to compete for a starting job?
I do because everyone expected me to come out there and contribute as soon as possible. I know Coach is depending on me to do the same thing. I am going to try to push myself as hard as possible to come in there and do whatever I need to do to help the team.
What did it seem like to you to wait to play – was that hard to watch?
It was because you are coming out of high school and you are the big star, and you are accustomed to playing every down. Then you get to the next level, and you have to wait your turn. But I think it might have been the best thing for me because coming here I didn't want to redshirt, but I think it was best for me looking back.
NOTE: Weston has been the most talked about up-and-comer on defense this season. He certainly looks bigger (if that's possible compared to how big he already is) this spring than he did in the winter. Weston will likely be in any rotation at defensive tackle, and could challenge for the starting spot this August.
