2006 Spring Practice: Day 7 Practice Report

ATHENS - The University of Georgia football team practiced for an hour and a half in shorts and no pads on Friday afternoon in preparation for the spring's first scrimmage on Saturday.

Following the team's eighth spring practice of 2006, Georgia head coach Mark Richt pointed out several practice highlights despite the 40-degree temperatures and strong gusts of win.

"Goodness, we had some picks today," Richt said. "I think we probably had about three interceptions and the defense did a good job as a whole today. Mikey Henderson also caught a nice bomb from Matthew Stafford."

On Saturday, the Bulldogs will have a closed scrimmage at Sanford Stadium and give the January enrollees, such as Matthew Stafford, Asher Allen, Ricardo Crawford, Kris Durham and Kevin Perez, a chance to see some full-speed action in their home stadium.

Richt said the No. 1 offense is scheduled to square off against the No. 1 defense and both second-team squads will scrimmage against each other as well.

"Today was mostly about correcting mistakes and getting prepared for what we are going to run tomorrow," he said.

Georgia has six more spring practices scheduled after Saturday's scrimmage before the annual G-Day game arrives on April 8th.
