Obi Finds His Offer

Most fans knew it was only a matter of offering before Conrad Obi committed to the Dawgs and yesterday the Loganville, Ga. defensive end made the trip to Athens for spring practice and came away with good news.

"Conrad Obi committed to the University of Georgia," said Grayson head coach Mickey Conn. "We went up to practice yesterday, and Coach Richt came over and offered him a scholarship. Conrad listened to everything he had to say and committed on the spot. He has had a smile on his face ever since."

Coach Conn believes that Georgia is the right fit with his brother at Georgia and the proximity to home. He also believes that Coach Richt was right to offer at this time.

"All along they were his favorite team, and he was just so excited that they offered. Any team in their right mind would offer him, and I think (Georgia) wanted to be sure that he was a good fit, and I think Coach Richt is a man of his word. He didn't want to make a commitment (by offering) and he wasn't a right guy for them."

So what type of player are the Dawgs getting in Obi?

"Conrad plays at a high level. I guess the way most people would describe it is that he has a high motor. He plays so hard and so fast, it is just unbelievable to see him play because he does play so hard on every play. Not only does he have that great size, he plays like the game should be played."

And now Conrad Obi gets to play the game like it should be played in Athens.
