2006 Spring Practice: Day 11 Practice Report

ATHENS - The Georgia football team practiced in full pads for just more than two hours at Sanford Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Many high school coaches from Georgia and neighboring states were at practice as part of the annual spring coaching clinic. Georgia head coach Mark Richt, along with his assistant coaches and staff, hosted the high school coaches and met with them throughout the day on Friday.

Following practice, Richt said that he has been impressed with junior Jason Johnson's play in the backfield this spring and that he "has seen enough of (junior Mikey Henderson, who switched from cornerback to the receiving corps this spring) to know he's going to help us." Richt also talked about how he tries to keep a relationship going with all of his 100-plus players.

"Each position coach tries to stay on top of their guys and let us know what's going on academically, with their injury reports and their character education," Richt said, adding that he had sat in on one of the character education sessions with the seniors this week. "I thought it would be impossible to have relationships with 120 guys once I took over as head coach, but I have gotten closer to them than I would have ever imagined. "

The Bulldogs have three more practices scheduled until they square off against each other in Sanford Stadium for the annual G-Day scrimmage on Saturday, April 8th.
