Soccer and Golf... Together At Last

Georgia Bulldogs Soccer Head Coach Patrick Baker has a lot going on this spring. His soccer team is in the midst of their spring season and coming up this Friday, he is an integral part of special event in Athens that even you can be apart of.

Dave McMahon -- How has the spring season been going on so far?

Patrick Baker -- It's been a lot different than we expected. We only graduated 2 players from the fall and had about 20 players entering spring, but due to injuries, we've had a hard time practicing with a full amount of players. It's changed the way we practice and play our games, but the way the girls play has been good. They've had a good spring.

DM -- Any big surprises this spring?

PB -- A lot of our players are playing real good. Kelly Whitaker has done a great job all spring and so has Ashley Stinson, a transfer from Virginia Tech. She is wonderful addition to the team and fans will be excited to see her play.

DM -- This fall, you will add a lot of new players from a very highly ranked recruiting class, tell me about them?

PB -- I am so excited about this class. Not only about how good they are, I am excited that many of them are from the state of Georgia. There are more girls in this class from Georgia, than the last 5 classes combined. These girls can make an impact right away.

DM -- Tell me about this Friday's event?

PB -- We are having a fundraising event for the women's soccer team at the UGA golf course. There will be a golf tournament that anyone can play in and a dinner. There is also a silent auction with great prizes from all sports. So far the response has been phenomenal, but we can always have more. If fans want more details they can always go to www.golf4kicks.com.

DM -- Thank you for your time and good luck in soccer and in golf this friday.
