Profile 2003 - Josh Coffman (TE/DE)

The south is thin this year in top tight ends, but one to keep an eye on this fall is Palmetto, FL product Josh Coffman. Coffman has been hitting the weight room hard this summer and is up 20 pounds since he weighed in at 212 at the Nike Camp in Tuscaloosa, AL. With a 285 pound bench and a 550 squat, Coffman is becoming a force on both sides of the ball this summer.

"I like playing tight end the most," said Coffman. "I blocked a lot last year, but I'm hoping I'll get more involved in the offense this year." Coffman is a huge target at 6-6 and 235 pounds, and he has a true 4.7 forty time. "We went 3-7 last year, and I think we're ready to turn it around this season. Since the season ended, we've been in the weight room every day since."

Coffman has also been busy on the camp circuit as well. He was named the most improved tight end at Florida's camp, and he will also have gone to the Down and Dirty camp in Lakeland, South Florida, and Georgia camps before the season is over. At least one school has seen the potential in Coffman and offered an early scholarship. "Clemson has given me an offer. I also like Florida, Miami, North Carolina, and South Florida. They're all even right now."

If Coffman keeps working hard and maintaining his quickness, he'll be one of the best tight end prospects in the south this year. He's already got a pretty good start.
